Hey everyone!

I’m back today to welcome to Day 1 of the Newton’s Nook May Release!

We have two *awesome* sets being released this month – and you’re totally invited to come party with us!

Last month was all about the mothers, and this month it’s the turn of the fathers! Today’s set is a great set featuring images that are perfect for Dads or Father’s Day or guys or anyone that loves DIY really – Around The House! This full-sized set is full of options galore and really versatile too!!

I was really drawn to the frame image and kept thinking of a cork board. Here’s what I came up with:

I started by stamping the the frame directly onto cork using SU! ink in Soft Suede, then carefully trimmed it out. While the ink was still wet I covered it with WOW! Clear Semi Dull embossing powder and heat embossed it for some texture and definition. It looks so authentic!

I then trimmed a piece of Rustic White cardstock and stamped the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I curled up the edge and adhered to the board using Pinflair Glue Gel. I then stamped part of two different pin images to create the heart pin – so cute! I trimmed out the image then tapped it into my WPlus9 ink in Old Gold to really give it that drawing pin look, before bending the tack down and adhering with Pinflair. You should see the dimension this gives!!

To finish, I adhered my board to a Sea Glass card base which was splattered with Studio Calico Mister Huey’s ink Calico White and stamped with the strings to prop the board up. I’m thrilled with the end result!
