Papertrey Ink September 2013 Blog Hop

Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday!

I wasn’t going to play along with this month’s Papertrey Ink Blog Hop, but I was super-inspired by some of the early entries my friends created, and as well as that Elena was nagging me. lol. You know I’m kidding Elena!

This month’s challenge – wreaths!

Not usually my thing, but I decided I get out of my comfort zone and give it a go!!

So the card I’m sharing was actually my fall-back option. I had this *amazing* idea I was going to execute, but it was taking me too long and as a result I started to freak out a bit. If I get it to work maybe I’ll share it some other day. 🙂

So instead I present my other idea:

What do you think? I love how fun this is!

I wanted my card to have a modern feel, so I created a bauble wreath with funky colours! I stamped the circles from Polka Dot Basics I and Tree Tops onto my Stamper’s Select White card base using Memento Luxe inks in Lilac Posies, Teal Zeal, Sweet Plum and Bahama Blue. *Love* these inks!!!

I then coated the whole thing with my EK Success Powder tool before stamping some more circles using Versamark ink and heat embossing them with WOW! Metallic Silver Sparkle embossing powder.

I really wanted a modern font for my sentiment, so I pulled out my new Hero Arts Message Bursts set! I stamped the ‘Merry’ using Lilac Posies ink then inked up the rest of the cardstock to created a solid strip. I also repeated this with the ‘Bright’ using Teal Zeal ink, but instead of stamping the sentiment with that I used Versamark ink and heat embossed with the same embossing powder.

I cut my strips at an angle then adhered them to my base and I was all done!

I’m hoping to get a little time to hop along this month so I can’t wait to see what others have created! From the thumbnails of the linked entries there certainly seem to be a lot of beauties there already!

I would love it if you left some love before you went on your way! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Oh fun, fun, FUN! Love all those colors together. Great distribution of circle sizes and colors all around. I don't associate you with wreaths, so I'm really glad you tried this, and put your own, wonderfully modern, spin on it.
