Birthday Spotlight

Hey everyone! Happy Tuesday!

Today I’ve got a card to share that I love love *love*! It’s a birthday card I made for a special friend whose birthday is today! He’s a filmmaker so I had a good idea of what I wanted to create and I’m *thrilled* that it turned out exactly as I wanted:

What do you think?! I *love* this!!!

I started with a Stamper’s Select White card base and stamped my sentiment from MFT’s At The Movies set using Versafine Onyx Black ink and Versamark ink. I then heat embossed it using Filigree Black embossing powder.

Next came the fun part – those spotlights! I masked off some areas with washi tape and used an ink blending tool to add Distress Ink in Black Soot onto the card, then followed in some places by Versafine. I did each area in turn and you’ll notice that even the ‘white’ areas aren’t completely white!

When all my inking was done I added the glitz! I sprayed upwards into the air with Studio Calico’s Mister Huey’s in Calico Shine, so I got a light mist of shimmer and shine, then repeated with Glimmer Mist in Graphite. I love the overall look – just like the misty nature of the appearance of light from a spotlight into pitch black, plus all the glitz and glamour of the movies too!

Well I hope you love this card as much as I do! And, more importantly, I hope the recipient loves it even more. *wink*. Thanks so much for stopping by today – I would love it if you would leave some love before you go on your way!

  1. Eeek!! As much as I love your card, I was really interested in your commentary to see how it came together. I was totally smiling by the time I got to the point where you sprayed the glimmer mist upwards in the air. That's so awesome! LOVE that the spotlight is not white, love the sparkle, love the smokiness, love how it's b&w (totally looks old-school Hollywood). Yep, I just love it all : )
