Car Silhouette Birthday

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday!

Today I’m bringing you a birthday card I made for a friend. He likes his cars and owns a fancy one so I used that as my inspiration:

I just *love* those photos you get of just the silhouette of a car being lit! They always look so impressive, and I think I did that look justice here!

I started with a True Black card base and sketched out the rough shape of the car. I then drew it on with a Versamarker and heat embossed with WOW! Clear Semi Dull embossing powder. Next I took some WPlus9 White Pigment ink and applied it with a cotton bud (QTip) and buffed it into the cardstock to create that halo effect!

I added the sentiment from Stylish Sentiments: Birthday using Versamark ink then heat embossed with WOW! Opaque Seafoam White embossing powder. I was careful to split the word ‘Birthday’ to stamp a different font of ‘R’ using a different sentiment, then coloured part of that letter with a R29 Copic marker to mimic the car’s badge – love details like this!!

I wanted a sleek and simple look, just like the photos I chose to emulate, so that was all this card needed!

ETA: I’m linking this up to the CAS-ual Fridays CFC99 Challenge to create a CAS birthday card! You should play along too, there’s only a few days left!

Well, I have a ton to do this weekend, as usual, so I’d better get back to it! I would love to know what you think of this card though before you head on your way! Thanks so much for stopping by!!

  1. I would love to get a card like this!!! Seriously love the car silhouette! Everything about this card; the way you drew it, the glow, the cool logo style sentiment…is just spectacular!

  2. You drew your own car silhouette … how awesome is that?!? And the glow from behind it is truly spectacular! I haven't seen anything like that before. You know I'm gonna love your R … what a great idea as-is, but that it also emulates the car logo takes it to an entirely different level!!
