Mama Elephant Sketch Challenge #2

Hey everyone! Happy Thursday!

I’m quickly getting an entry in for the Mama Elephant Sketch Challenge. I was struggling with this for ages then inspiration hit at the 11th hour!

Here’s the sketch we were given to play with:

And here’s my interpretation:

What do you think? I think I like this card. I doubt it’s going to win any awards, lol, but at least I managed to take part!

So in case it’s not obvious, I turned the sketch on its side to work with. The banners became the arrows heads. etc. I think that’s what was paralysing me the most – feeling trapped by the layout!

I started by cutting a piece of Eclipse Masking Tape to mask my Harvest Gold card base and sprayed the circle with Heidi Swapp Colour Shine Mists in Primrose and Tropicana Teal. I then removed the mask and sprayed a little more so that the rest of the base was covered.

I stamped the arrow heads from Trifecta using Versamark ink and heat embossed with WOW! Embossing Powders in Clear Semi Dull, Fluorescent Cerise and Fluorescent Blue. I then stamped the sentiment made up from a couple of stamps from So Breezy using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I added lots of little hearts from Midnight Letters, stamping with my Heidi Swapp mists and with Versamark and heat embossing with Semi Dull Clear again. Finally I splattered a little with Mister Huey’s Calico White and also dabbed a bit into the base with a tissue. My loose take (for now) on the bokeh trend which is surfacing.

I would love to know what you think of this little card! Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great day!

  1. I cannot tear myself away from YELLOW … so loving it on your card! All the dimension and texture is amazing … plus the fact that it's a one layer card makes it even more special. Love it!

  2. Taheerah, my dear!! I was like where is this girl's entry?? Ah, she waits until the 11th hour haha! But, better late than never!! Your take on the sketch is very creative! I certainly appreciate all the artistic ink splattering!!!
