25 Days of Christmas Cards – Day Seventeen!

By Taheerah | 17th December 2012 | 8 Comments

Hey everyone! How are you doing? Are you ready for Day 17?!

Now, I feel like I need to start this post with a disclaimer. I’m, er, what shall we call it… eccentric. Yea, that’s a good word for it. Yeah. I like to be different, which is a good thing seeing as I am!

So sometimes, I get the odd crazy idea, or two. Or many. Some of these ideas are even card ideas, hehe!

Now I’ll be the first to admit that some of my crazy ideas are just insane, even for me. But sometimes, just sometimes, something amazing comes from them!

And that’s my disclaimer for this post and its card.

Now then, onto the card itself!

When Cath posted the Moxie Fab Keen on Neon Challenge my heart just about skipped a beat! Neon?! Holiday?! Sign me up!! I was not going to miss out on this challenge!

And whilst thinking up ideas, I hit upon something crazy and well far out there. I wasn’t going to go a little neon and just have a pop or two of it on white. Oh no. I was going to go full-on neon…

Are you ready? Have you got your sunglasses on? You’re going to need them…

Ta da!! What do you think?!!

Yeah. It’s bright. And it’s insane. But I think it totally works!!! AND – it makes a great card for a music fan and is a hit with the guys too!

So, I’m sure most of you get the reference for this card, but if not let me help you out:

This is the album cover for an album by the Sex Pistols. Definitely very neon – and makes quite a statement! So I used it as the inspiration for my card!!

I don’t usually like punny sentiments at all – but come on, who on Earth loves brussel sprouts?! ;o)

So, anyway, let me tell you how I made it.

I started with a Stamper’s Select White card base. I used some Fluorescent Yellow acrylic paint to paint the whole base. I gave it a couple of coats, letting it try between each coat. The paint is opaque but a couple of coats lets it have an even coating.

After this the first thing I did was add that statement Christmas part at the bottom!

I used two ‘separated at birth’ stamp sets to make this – the Recollections Grunge Double set and the Sanylion Boy Alphabet set. I stamped ones letter at a time using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with WOW! Fluorescent Magenta embossing powder. It was the perfect shade for this look!

Next came the top line of the sentiment. I stamped this using the MFT Vanity License Plate stamp set. I used Versafine ink for this for that deep, dark black.

The middle line followed suit, using PTI’s Trajan: Monogram Edition set.

The final line was stamped using Mama Elephant’s Midnight Letters set. The set doesn’t have an apostrophe so I used the heart stamp and inked up only part of it to create one!

I know you are probably all blind now and have a headache. But hopefully you love this card just like I do! If not I will most certainly be back with a ‘normality is restored’ Christmas card tomorrow! Thanks so much for stopping by – and I’d love a comment if you would be so kind!

  1. Such a cool card. Good on you for trying different things. I tend to stick with "tried and tested". Rather boring aren't I? Sending best wishes.

  2. Hey Taheerah! Thanks for linking this up to the Keen on Neon Challenge in the Moxie Fab World! I'm so glad you joined in on all the fun! 🙂

  3. I love how your mind works girl! I totally got the reference (classic cover art), but you gotta explain "the sprouts" part to this yankee;) I'm sure I'm an idiot, lol! Great card though!

Hope you're having a good week!
