The Joys of Summer

Hi everyone!

Well, I know the first leaves are starting to fall, the weather’s starting to turn, but I *finally* inked up my PTI Day At The Beach set! I was lacking a bit of inspiration on what to do with it but finally found a little mojo thanks to the lovely girls on the PTI Forum!

The stamps in here are so comprehensive, you really can create a complete beach card with the set! However the stamps also lend themselves really well to the CAS style so that’s what I went for! Also, seeing as the current challenge on the A Passion for Papertrey blog is for CAS cards this one fitted right in!

Here’s my card:

It’s quite a big one, but I really wanted to incorporate 4 of the really cute images from the set! Each of the images was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto PTI Rustic White cardstock.

The sunglasses were coloured with Copics. I’m quite pleased with the end result on these, although the next pair I do will be more funky I think!

The first glass is ‘filled’ with a mixture of Ocean Tides and Aqua Mist inks, then overstamped with Versamark and covered with Stickum powder. Once heated I covered with Kars Extra Fine Glitter. The umbrella was stamped with Memento ink and with PTI Berry Sorbet. The glass itself is edged in places with a Copic marker to give it a little dimension.

The flip flops were stamped with a mix of Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus. I then used my Quickie Glue Pen on all the dots and covered with Kars glitter again. Those flip flops are so cute!

The final glass was ‘filled’ with a mix of Berry Sorbet, Melon Berry and Summer Sunrise inks. I love how I managed to really get the colours to blend to really give the appearance of a cocktail! The ice cubes were stamped with Fresh Snow and the straw with Aqua Mist. The drink was overstamped with Versamark and then covered with Stickum powder and glitter as with the other glass. As with the first glass I edged in places with a Copic marker.

Each of the images was cut with Deckled Edged Rectangle Nestabilities (I *love* these nesties but I really need to get some others as well, lol). Each of the rectangles was edged with VintageTouch Chamomile ink for some subtle definition, before adhering to the Vintage Cream base using Pinflair Glue Gel.

I measured a border round and drew with a Memento Tuxedo Black pen. I left gaps where I’d stamped the sentiment (in Memento Tuxedo Black) and the starfish (in a mixture of Lemon Tart and Summer Sunrise).

I really like how this CAS card has turned out. I don’t usually do CAS as it’s somewhat frightening to do something so simple, lol, but I think this one really works! Maybe I’ve cured my phobia!!

  1. I adore this Taheerah! I love the design and the use of white space, it definitely works! Great job – you've inspired me to ink up this set now! Thanks for joining in, Kate x
