Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #15

Hello all!

First of all I just wanted to thank all of you that took the time to leave such lovely comments on my Blog Hop post. It really meant a lot to me so thank you!

Onto today’s card! It’s the latest Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge on Dawn McVery’s blog:

Not the easiest colour combo in the world for me as I don’t usually work with orangey colours like Melon Berry! I really had fun making this one though and it gave me the chance to try out my latest PTI stamp sets – Guidelines II and Star Prints!

Here’s my entry:

I really love how this has turned out! It’s my first play with Guidelines II and I am completely hooked! I love making my own backgrounds so this set suits me down to the ground!

I started by stamping the guidelines onto Hibiscus Burst cardstock using Melon Berry ink. I then stamped one of the patterns in Vintage Cream and the other in Hibiscus Burst, before adding little extra details with the new Spring Moss ink! Loving this as it’s the first time I’ve been able to get my hands on the colour and the new formulation definitely means the colour stands out on different colour cardstock!

I trimmed a panel of the patterned card with my pinking shears before adhering to a sqaure Vintage Cream cardstock base.

I then stamped three of the different stars and sentiments in the Star Prints set using Hibiscus Burst, Melon Berry and Spring Moss, all onto Vintage Cream cardstock. The sentiments were cut out using Deckle Edged Rectangle Nestabilities and adhered with Pinflair Glue gel. Each of the rectangles was edged in a different colour ink to that off the sentiment.

Two of the stars were adhered on top of contrasting colours of Swiss Dot ribbon (Melon Berry star onto Spring Moss ribbon and vice versa – the Melon Berry ribbon is photographing dark for some reason). The last star was adhered at an angle and without ribbon for a bit of difference/interest. The ribbons were cut at an angle using pinking shears, then again to create a smaller pinking effect. Love how that’s turned out!

So what do you think? I’m loving how Dawn’s Challenges really stretch me to try new things and I’m really enjoying them! I’m loving both of these sets – expect to see more cards from me that are made with these, including a masculine Star Prints card later on this week!

  1. I L-O-V-E your card! They layout is really striking – great job! I'm really going to have to bump Damask designs up on my PTI list (and there's a long one :)).
Thanks for your comments – so nice of you 🙂

  2. OK now you got me jealous with your new PTI stash LOL! I love your work with guidelines II, that background is fab! Also liking that you used not just one sentiment but three – I never think to do that!
