Clean & Simple Card Making 2 – Bonus Day 1 – Die Cuts

By Taheerah | 3rd February 2013 | 8 Comments

Hi everyone! All my posts are running a bit late today – sorry about that!

So we had a bonus class for Clean & Simple Card Making 2 yesterday, focusing on die cuts:

Before I go onto today’s card I just wanted to share some exciting news! The teachers of the class highlighted my Day 2 and Day 4 cards as part of their bonus class today – yay me!

For Day 4’s card click here.

Now then, back to today’s show!

I love my dies as you know, so I couldn’t wait to get started on this!

After a lot of umming and ahhing about just what I wanted to do, I settled on a negative die cut which would double up as a window card:

What do you think? Pretty funky huh?!

I started with a Stamper’s Select White card base. I took the Papertrey Framed Out #12 die and used it to die cut the window, then used it again several times to emboss the tumbling Polaroid frames.

Once I’d done this I masked off the inside of the card, and the square inside the Polaroid frame, and stamped it with a Studio Calico/Hero Arts stamp from one of the kits using Hero Arts Neon Pink ink (apologies, can’t remember the name right now – wish they put the names on the packaging!).

After that I just needed some finishing touches! I stamped the chevrons from Mama Elephant’s On Target set using Neon Pink and Neon Yellow inks. I don’t have the neon green ink yet, so I stamped the chevrons onto Eclipse Masking Tape, cut them out and used the negative to paint the green chevrons using Fluorescent Green acrylic paint.

I added the sentiment, from Becky Oehlers’ Spoon Me set using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Next I stamped and trimmed out the arrow from On Target and adhered it in place with some Pinflair Glue Gel. Finally I stamped the stars from Mama Elephant’s On Target and from Cosmic Stars, and that was it!

As this card is a window card I’m also entering it into the Moxie Fab Make A Card With A Window Challenge, so fun to be able to kill two birds with one stone!

Well I’ll be back tomorrow with another Valentine’s post. Thanks so much for stopping by!
