Hey everyone!

This is my second post of the day. Please scroll down to see my post for Uniko Studio – which actually uses the inspiration from this week’s challenge! 🙂

Happy Monday! I know, I know, Mondays are tough. We all need a little tonic to help us get through the day. Luckily there’s a new challenge in town to help us do just that – the Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge!!

I want to thank you all for bearing with me last week when I extended the last challenge due to exhaustion on my part. I was also very happy to see a few of you add your entries during the extension week too, yay!

This is a challenge which I’ve created myself, yay me! Every Monday I will bring you a photo inspiration challenge, with images that focus on lifting us out of those Monday doldrums and all inspired to create!! I’ll be asking you to play along as well and linking up your creations! At the end of each week I’ll pick a Top 3 who’ll be my Cures For The Monday Blues and receive a special badge to add to your blog!!

This challenge is in its twentieth week now – woo hoo!! Thank you to everyone who has given it love and support and helped it to grow!

In case you missed this previous post, please read on for some of the recent changes made to the Challenge – including info on how to be in with a chance of becoming a Guest Designer!

Right then. Back to business, lol!

Before we get to this week’s challenge I want to once again thank all of you that submitted entries for the last challenge. I am always especially happy to see some new faces to the Challenge, as well as ‘regulars’! They were all truly beautiful entries and you did not make my life easy when choosing the winners!! I really wanted to pick you all!! Here are my Top 3 Cures For The Monday Blues:

Winners please contact me to be sent your challenge winner’s badges!

Yet again I had some absolute stunners for entries. It is seriously getting harder and harder each week to pick out only a Top 3! All of you have really been putting in some amazing designs and it makes me so happy when you play, so please keep playing along!

So are you excited to get this week’s challenge under way?! Let’s see what’s up for this week’s inspiration:

NB: there is also a landscape version of this inspiration that has a little more detail but didn’t fit nicely with the challenge graphic. Please feel free to use that as your inspiration too if you wish! You can find it here,

Happy sigh. Such a sugary sweet bedroom and bursting with funky details and great colours! The entire room is amazing by the way, so I fully encourage you to click the pin on Pinterest and take a look at the entire post it originated from! LOVE! ♥

Here’s my take on the inspiration:

I love love *love* how this turned out!!

I started with a Pure White card base and built my cake image using the stamps from the amazing Studio Calico Camelot Card Kit!! I used Studio Calico Colour Theory ink in Mint Hint and Simon Says Stamp ink in Sea Glass for the cake stand (taking the inspiration from the desk/console table in the room), Studio Calico Colour Theory ink in Sunny Day and Distress Ink in Scattered Straw for the cake layers (one of the books on the shelf), along with Studio Calico Colour Theory ink in Blush Crush and SU! ink in Blushing Bride for the other layers and candles and banner (from those sugary pink walls)! Love love love love *love* how this turned out!!

I stamped banner sentiment and the letters from WPlus9’s Monogrammed stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I coated some of the layers with Glossy Accents then coated and heat embossed with WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing powder. The Glossy Accents puffs up when heated so this has a wonderful puffed/frosting look!! I used Glossy Accents to add a little Distress Glitter in Antique Linen to the candle flames too for some subtle accenting, and used my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to add some sparkle to the rest of the flame!

I carried my design through to the inside of the card, using the sentiment from Papertrey’s Inside & Out: Birthday II stamp set. I added a few sequins to the front to finish off this delicious card!!

So now it’s your turn to cure the Monday Blues! Here’s how to participate in the challenge!

  1. Ah-mazing card and inspiration piece. I loved the room so much I showed it to my hubby, I think he thought I wanted to redo our bedroom like that, think I will use that as leverage somehow. Thanks!

  2. THUD! That's my jaw-dropping in complete awe at how stunning your card is, both outside and inside! That cake is nothing short of stellar, and the 'remake' inside, with the sentiment, is amazing. Beautiful to the max, Taheerah! WOW!!!

  3. Oh, such a good surprise to begin the week clapping along :). Thanks so much for choosing my card with two more talented ladies. Congrats to Amy and Conil!
The second surprise of the day was your card, I wasn't expecting a cake. The inspiration shows everywhere in your card, that's for sure, and it is a real beauty, perfectly executed. I love the inside too, more discreet but complements so well the outside. For this challenge we have just another lovely room with so much detail.

  4. Thanks so much for the honor. I really am flattered. The new inspiration piece is so sweet & girly. Love it…anf your card is filled with delightful details. So pretty.
