I’ve always loved the concept of Advent Calendars. There’s something special and magical about those little treats hidden behind those little doors – and the idea of a secret little something to be unwrapped every day really is a wonderful way to build the excitement towards Christmas, not to mention a fun tradition as well!

As the years roll by some of these types of tradition can be lost when we grow up, and it seems a real shame to lose some of that magic and wonder. And really there’s no reason at all why something such as an Advent Calendar can’t be revamped and repackaged for grown-ups, crafty grown-ups… grown-ups like you and me!

So one day in November a couple of years ago I dreamed up a fun idea for a event. I didn’t know if it would work, or if anyone would be interested. I approached some crafty friends, and others recruited themselves – everyone loved the idea! Behind the scenes I worked hard to put together something rather different and very special. After much organising, coordinating and planning, I’m really thrilled to finally bring to you a very special, very fun, very festive series! It was *hugely* popular, and so, by popular demand, I just had to bring it back again this year!

Advent Calendar Extravaganza is -the- festive event of the season! This ‘hop with a twist’ was dreamed up by Taheerah Atchia and features surprise destinations each day! Joining in the fun with Taheerah are ONE HUNDRED special guests – each serving up some fantastic Christmas inspiration! Just like an Advent Calendar, you’ll never know where you’re going to be visiting next until you ‘open the door’!
And that’s not all! With 25 *amazing* sponsors taking part as guests as well, your crafty wish list is bound to get a boost with a chance to win a prize EVERY SINGLE DAY!!
Join in the fun every day at taheerah-atchia.com to see what special surprises await behind the door!

Eek! How fun does that sound?! 25 full days of surprises, inspiration and prizes!!

In case you’re wondering just how it’s going to work, here’s a quick video that explains how to find those special links!

I’m so excited to be bringing you this event! I really hope you’re going to enjoy it as much as I am!!

Let’s get on with Day 24, shall we?!

I’ve got some of my very favourite designers lined up today to continue the fun! Just click on the door to reveal today’s surprise destinations and prize! Tip: you will need to do this from the blog itself, not from a feed reader or e-mail!

The door is a bit different this year (curse of moving over to WordPress!). So, now you’ve opened it, please use the image below to find your secret links! As you see, there aren’t any text links, but tap or click on all the decorations/presents in the image below and you will find your secret destinations! *wink*

Exciting right?! Isn’t it fun to not know what’s in store at the other end of those links?! Make sure you click each one to reveal the surprise and leave comments at the destinations to win!

And speaking of winning…

Today’s sponsor is My Sweet Petunia– creators and inventors of the (Most Incredible Stamping Tool Invented) – MISTI!! What can I say about this wonderful company, and wonderful invention? It’s not very often that a product comes onto the marketplace that truly is a game changer. The MISTI is such a tool and it will change the way you stamp – forever! Not only will your images be clearer, more even and *perfect*, but you also open the door to a whole host of techniques and make mass production of designs a breeze!! A true innovation, and one that every cardmaker needs!! My Sweet Petunia are headed up by my innovative and inspirational, dear friend Iliana – she is just the most awesome person, and if you haven’t read the story of how she came up with the MISTI then please go and look it up – it’s a wonderful Christmas story!! I’m so thrilled to have them sponsor the event again this year!

My Sweet Petunia are generously sponsoring a MISTI (or a Mini MISTI, if you prefer!) PLUS a set of Creative Corners as their prize!! This is a prize that EVERYONE wants, believe me!! Both these sizes of MISTI are awesome, but if I were to pick one, I’d go with the original size – more versatile for techniques (and a more expensive prize too! *wink*)! And if you already have a MISTI/Mini MISTI – trust me, you’ll get on very well with a second one, haha!!

Now that you know what you can win, I’m sure you’re eager to head off to all those secret destinations to check them out! But before you go, some inspiration from me:

Meowy Christmas Cat Bauble Card by Taheerah Atchia
Cute huh?! Those kitties are really up to mischief!

Meowy Christmas Cat Bauble Card by Taheerah Atchia

I used the Meowy Christmas set from Stamping Bella to create this card. These are cling mounted rubber stamps, without any image on the cling side, so you really don’t have a clue where and what you’re stamping! Every single image you see on the card is an individual stamp. I would not have been able to create this card without the MISTI!

I used a piece of acetate, cut to the size of an A2 card, and placed that in my MISTI, then stamped directly onto that to work out my placement of the images. Stamping in this way enabled me to make adjustments to the position and orientation of each stamp, try it out, and get everything perfect before stamping onto cardstock! What a great way to save frustration and cardstock! I coloured the images with my Prismacolor pencils then added a double layer of Nuvo Crystal Drops on the top (after having added Wink of Stella to the baubles). I love how this turned out, thanks to the MISTI!

It’s not a party without a prize – and with prizes every day there are several chances to win! Today’s prize is generously supplied by My Sweet Petunia so you’ll definitely want to get your hands on it! Simply leave a comment on this post to enter! Don’t forget to grab the other surprise destinations from behind the door, and head over to them to leave comments there as well to improve your odds even more! You have until 7am EST on Sunday 31st December to leave all your comments!

Don’t forget the Advent Calendar Extravaganza runs from 1st-25th December inclusive so make sure you visit taheerah-atchia.com every day for fabulous inspiration and amazing prizes every single time! Merry Christmas!

I hope you love this event just as much as I do! I would love to know what you think of Advent Calendar Extravaganza! Do you love the format? The secret destinations? The endless inspiration? 1. What a soft and fun card! I’m so glad to be playing along and left some love on all the participating blogs for Day 24 🙂

  2. I love the cute fat squishy look of those kitties . I never thought of using myMiSTI like that and now you say it it’s so simple yet obvious. I have a few stamps like that I don’t use because of the pot luck of where they will stamp. Awesome! Jenny x

  3. Those kitties are SO adorable, Taheera. Great coloring and fabulous layout. SO much fun wrapped up in this one sweet little card. Thanks for another great day of art.
    Blessings,
    Karen Letchworth

  4. Super cute card Taheerah. Love the sweet kitties! Great coloring. I love my Misti. I have the regular size, but I would love to get my hands on the mini… such a great invention! So true!

  5. SQUEAL!! Just SWEET!! I LOVE this Card!! THANKS SO MUCH for sharing and INSPIRING!! Have a FABULOUS New Year!! =)

  6. This card would be perfect for one of my brothers and several friends with cats! I can’t live without my MISTI. It would be great to win one for a very dear friend of mine. We make cards to send to the older and home bound members of our church.

  7. These kittens playing with Christmas ornaments are so cute. And thanks for sharing the Misti tip on using acetate to tweak images prior to stamping on cardstock!

  8. Thanks for the tip of using acetate to help with stamp placement; that will really help me. This card is just darling and wonderful soft colors.

  9. Oh my Gosh.. I love Stamping Bella.. She hasnt come out with a release I haven’t loved! It is a bit of a challenge though that they are rubber mount. .so I agree, a misti would be a perfect tool.. and the corners, oh yea. Fabulous prize. Lovely card as well.. glad you had a misti to create this 🙂

  10. Omg this little kitties are adorable! I love the card you created! And I also forgot about the misti tip that you shared… thanks for reminding me of that great technique! I would absolutely love to win this giveaway… how awesome is this?

  11. A product that ruly lives up to its name. It really is the most incredible stamping tool invented. It really is great to have both the Mini and regular sizes. I set up the regular size one to do do backgrounds which for me usually means using a cling rubber stamp, while the mini is set up to use clear stamps. This makes making multiples of the same card so much easier. Your card is darling.

  12. OMG ! Your card is adorable ! I love this stamp and used it too for my cards. I really love the soft colors of your card.

  13. Love the card, & I totally love my Misti- cannot imagine not having it. The Misti has changed the way we all stamp, & has made things so much easier! Thank you Taheerah for this countdown event!

  14. Very cute card . And I can see how having the MISTI would really be helpful. It is one of the downsides of rubber stamps. (And the fact that I can never get a perfect impression the first time…ever!). I do hope your Christmas is the best ever.. I am not sure what the time difference is, but I suspect the day is ending there. It is very early here. My son left his phone out and didn’t turn his alarm off ?,..so here I sit waiting for the kids to wake up!
