I’ve always loved the concept of Advent Calendars. There’s something special and magical about those little treats hidden behind those little doors – and the idea of a secret little something to be unwrapped every day really is a wonderful way to build the excitement towards Christmas, not to mention a fun tradition as well!

As the years roll by some of these types of tradition can be lost when we grow up, and it seems a real shame to lose some of that magic and wonder. And really there’s no reason at all why something such as an Advent Calendar can’t be revamped and repackaged for grown-ups, crafty grown-ups… grown-ups like you and me!

So one day in November a couple of years ago I dreamed up a fun idea for a event. I didn’t know if it would work, or if anyone would be interested. I approached some crafty friends, and others recruited themselves – everyone loved the idea! Behind the scenes I worked hard to put together something rather different and very special. After much organising, coordinating and planning, I’m really thrilled to finally bring to you a very special, very fun, very festive series! It was *hugely* popular, and so, by popular demand, I just had to bring it back again this year!

Advent Calendar Extravaganza is -the- festive event of the season! This ‘hop with a twist’ was dreamed up by Taheerah Atchia and features surprise destinations each day! Joining in the fun with Taheerah are ONE HUNDRED special guests – each serving up some fantastic Christmas inspiration! Just like an Advent Calendar, you’ll never know where you’re going to be visiting next until you ‘open the door’!
And that’s not all! With 25 *amazing* sponsors taking part as guests as well, your crafty wish list is bound to get a boost with a chance to win a prize EVERY SINGLE DAY!!
Join in the fun every day at taheerah-atchia.com to see what special surprises await behind the door!

Eek! How fun does that sound?! 25 full days of surprises, inspiration and prizes!!

In case you’re wondering just how it’s going to work, here’s a quick video that explains how to find those special links!

I’m so excited to be bringing you this event! I really hope you’re going to enjoy it as much as I am!!

Let’s get on with Day 13, shall we?!

I’ve got some of my very favourite designers lined up today to continue the fun! Just click on the door to reveal today’s surprise destinations and prize! Tip: you will need to do this from the blog itself, not from a feed reader or e-mail!

The door is a bit different this year (curse of moving over to WordPress!). So, now you’ve opened it, please use the image below to find your secret links! As you see, there aren’t any text links, but tap or click on all the decorations/presents in the image below and you will find your secret destinations! *wink*

Exciting right?! Isn’t it fun to not know what’s in store at the other end of those links?! Make sure you click each one to reveal the surprise and leave comments at the destinations to win!

And speaking of winning…

Today’s sponsor is Concord & 9th! One of the newer kids on the block, Concord & 9th are near-famous for their calligraphy alphabet stamps! But that’s not the only tool in their box! They have an awesome array of very cleverly designed stamps and dies, and have such a unique take on bringing modernity to the traditional! Concord & 9th are headed up by the dynamic duo of Angie and Greg, who are just simply awesome people! I’m so thrilled to have them sponsor the event this year!

Concord & 9th are generously sponsoring a $25 gift certificate to their store! With an amazing array of products you’re really going to be spoilt for choice spending it!

Now that you know what you can win, I’m sure you’re eager to head off to all those secret destinations to check them out! But before you go, some inspiration from me:

Happy Holidays Poinsettia Christmas Card by Taheerah Atchia

*sigh* I’m swooning over this one! It has that high-end, Rifle Paper Co. stationery feel to it that I just *love*.

Happy Holidays Poinsettia Christmas Card by Taheerah Atchia

I used the Barnwood Background and Blooms Fill-In sets to create my background. Using the kissing technique, I stamped the woodgrain image onto the Blooms Fill In background stamp, before stamping that onto my card. I repeat stamped this a few times, to build up the intensity of colour I wanted, then stamped the Blooms Fill-In background on its own with a lighter colour to add to the base colour of the wood. The results are so spectacular!

I used the smaller companion stamps to add colour to the flowers and leaves. The sentiment is from the Ornamental set. I firstly stamped in black but didn’t like that. So then I heat embossed it with white embossing powder directly on top. Didn’t like that either, so heat embossed directly on top of that with black embossing powder. And yes, it did work out just fine!!

It’s not a party without a prize – and with prizes every day there are several chances to win! Today’s prize is generously supplied by Concord & 9th so you’ll definitely want to get your hands on it! Simply leave a comment on this post to enter! Don’t forget to grab the other surprise destinations from behind the door, and head over to them to leave comments there as well to improve your odds even more! You have until 7am EST on Sunday 31st December to leave all your comments!

Don’t forget the Advent Calendar Extravaganza runs from 1st-25th December inclusive so make sure you visit taheerah-atchia.com every day for fabulous inspiration and amazing prizes every single time! Merry Christmas!

  1. WOW! Beautiul CAS holiday creative work of art using non traditional holiday colors! Great design, use of color. Love it! Great job! Well done!

  2. Okay, I guess I don’t know a lot of stamping terms or I’ve never heard it called that before. When you said you’re “kissing” technique, I’m thinking lips and 2 people. You kissed a stamp? Yuck! LOL I’ve never heard of it before. I’ll have to look that one up somewhere as I don’t see a video I can watch.
Your card is very elegant. It again also reminds me of the 60’s. Cards looked like that with those colors. I guess I am very nostalgic this year since my dad passed away this year. My mom told me when I got much older that in the 60’s, when my dad had his own business, that he made $60 a week yet when you see movies of us, we had a tree full of presents. You can see cards in the movie and they are these colors. This is a beautiful card and one I would be proud to display in my home. Thank you for showing it to us. Thank you also for giving us the chance to win something. I love this Advent Calendar!

  3. What a fun idea! I did advent calendars with my 4 kids and now I do them with my grand children. I’m a little behind in the blog hop but now I have a treasure of videos to watch on a cold winter night. Thank you for hosting this creative advent event.???

  4. What a brilliant idea this is! Saves you a metric ton of masking, and you’re right; it looks like really high end wrapping paper or stationery. I’ve seen people use the fill-in blossoms, but now I think that one has to jump to the top of my (never-ending) wishlist. Thank you for sharing your creativity. You must have put in so much time card-making in addition to all the organization. I appreciate it!

  5. I absolutelh love the pairing of the Barnwood background stamp with the floral images on your stunning card! I does look like high end stationary!!

  6. wow! i can’t believe you stamped this! It looks like it was PRODUCED and not CREATED!! It’s lovely! Just the right touch of color!!!

  7. Learned a new word today “swooning” ;o)
I can see why and it is a wonderfull card.
Again some amazing cards behind door 13.

  8. I tried to comment from my phone, but I don’t see it. I love their products, but still don’t own any! You have done a lovely card, which should make them very happy!! I love that you took no-traditional images and turned it into a Christmas card. WELL DONE!!! Thank you.

  9. Oh so lovely. I have been so impressed with their products, but still don’t own any. You have done them proud with this one. Thank you.

  11. This card is so very pretty. I especially love the colors you for see on it. Thank you for sharing it.

I love your Advent Calendar. I can’t imagine how much work and time you put into it so that you have designers for each day. I like learning about other people and companies that participate in your calendar .m there’s always someone new and see all of the techniques demonstrated by all of the designers. I can’t thank you enough for doing this for us. It’s awesome!

  12. The lovely delicate pink flowers against the beautiful golden wood-like background just really works!!! Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas!
