I’ve always loved the concept of Advent Calendars. There’s something special and magical about those little treats hidden behind those little doors – and the idea of a secret little something to be unwrapped every day really is a wonderful way to build the excitement towards Christmas, not to mention a fun tradition as well!

As the years roll by some of these types of tradition can be lost when we grow up, and it seems a real shame to lose some of that magic and wonder. And really there’s no reason at all why something such as an Advent Calendar can’t be revamped and repackaged for grown-ups, crafty grown-ups… grown-ups like you and me!

So one day in November last year I dreamed up a fun idea for a event. I didn’t know if it would work, or if anyone would be interested. I approached some crafty friends, and others recruited themselves – everyone loved the idea! Behind the scenes I worked hard to put together something rather different and very special. After much organising, coordinating and planning, I’m really thrilled to finally bring to you a very special, very fun, very festive series! It was *hugely* popular, and so, by popular demand, I just had to bring it back again this year!

Advent Calendar Extravaganza 2016

Just like an Advent Calendar, you’ll never know where you’re going to be visiting next until you ‘open the door’!

In case you’re wondering just how it’s going to work, here’s last year’s video (I’m afraid my filmmaker friend was unavailable to help in time for this year!) to explain it:

I’m so excited to be bringing you this event! I really hope you’re going to enjoy it as much as I am!!

Let’s get on with Day 14, shall we?!

I’ve got some of my very favourite designers lined up today to continue the fun! Just click on the door to reveal today’s surprise destinations and prize! Tip: you will need to do this from the blog itself, not from a feed reader or e-mail!

The door is a bit different this year (curse of moving over to WordPress!). So, now you’ve opened it, please use the image below to find your secret links! As you see, there aren’t any text links, but tap or click on all the decorations/presents in the image below and you will find your secret destinations! *wink*

Exciting right?! Isn’t it fun to not know what’s in store at the other end of those links?! Make sure you click each one to reveal the surprise and leave comments at the destinations to win!

And speaking of winning…

Today’s sponsor is Neat & Tangled! Yay! What can I say about this awesome company that I haven’t already said in a million blog posts?! Their designs are cute, fresh, trendy, and fun! I’ve loved every moment of my 3 years on the Neat & Tangled DT, and I can’t get enough of this wonderful company. I just *always* have fun when I create with these products! Neat & Tangled are headed up by my awesome friend Danielle, who is one of the sweetest ladies I know! I’m so thrilled to have them sponsor the event again this year!

Neat & Tangled are generously sponsoring a $25 gift certificate to their store! With an amazing array of products you’re really going to be spoilt for choice spending it!

Now that you know what you can win, I’m sure you’re eager to head off to all those secret destinations to check them out! But before you go, some inspiration from me:

Holiday Happiness From All Of Us Christmas Card by Taheerah Atchia

Gah, so much cute I can’t stand it!! I combined some of Elena’s best sets (my friend Elena is *such* a great designer don’t you think?!) – Beary Merry, Santa’s Wonderland and Elfs And Their Shelf.

Holiday Happiness From All Of Us Christmas Card by Taheerah Atchia

I had to stamp, mask, and stamp in stages to build this scene. A *lot* of work, but so worth it! I love how the elves are sitting on the bear’s legs! I love how the little deer is balanced on top of the bear’s head! And I love how everything is perfectly one layer! 🙂

I pulled out my Prismacolors again to colour all the images, then used my Zig Markers to add some subtle colour to the corners, blending into the base colour of the card seamlessly. They really so easy to blend with! I added some Wink of Stella to parts of the images too for some subtle shimmer. A gentle stamping of the snow stamp from Santa’s Wonderland, in gold ink, adds a perfectly subtle touch to the sky. Aaaaand I hand drew a little tag image and added the ‘from all of us’ companion sentiment by hand to complete my vision for this card!

It’s not a party without a prize – and with prizes every day there are several chances to win! Today’s prize is generously supplied by Neat & Tangled so you’ll definitely want to get your hands on it! Simply leave a comment on this post to enter! Don’t forget to grab the other surprise destinations from behind the door, and head over to them to leave comments there as well to improve your odds even more! 1. Wow that’s so impressive you combined all those images into one card – totally channeling your inner Sandy Allnock 🙂 and the face on that little snowman – he’s so cute I just wanna pinch his snow cheeks!!!!

  2. I love your card today! It is so bright and looks to have included all the great Christmas characters! Thanks again for sharing and for taking the time during this busy, busy season to put all of this together!

  3. What a fabulous card! All those little guys are sure cute. I have never tried masking to create a scene like this. It seems like a lot of work and that it would take a lot of time. Good for you for accepting the challenge. Although for you it’s probably nothing ! A fabulous card with great colouring and I love the soft gold snow in the background.

  4. This card is so sweet! I love how you combined the stamps from different sets. The way the elves are sitting on the polar bears legs = perfect!!

  5. Fun Fun Fun! This colorful group looks like they are having a festive blast! So much masking involved on this one, wow! Awesome job!

  6. OMG Taheerah, I wouldn’t even know where to begin with the first stamp in order to have everyone be where they need to be….a lot of work for sure, but sure darn cute!

  7. I admire your persistence and the patience it must have taken to mask this fantastic grouping! And your coloring is perfection. Love this card.

  8. I love how you combined all the cute characters from several stamp sets! The result is an adorable holiday card!

  9. Every day I think to myself : “Wow! She’s really outdone herself! This card is outstanding! ” Then I come back and you’ve done it again! This scene is the CUTEST! The work, attention to detail and care that went into it is amazing and so worth it cause the results are incredible!!!

  10. Thank you, Taheerah. I love the combination of stamp sets you used from Neat and Tangled. They put me on Cuteness Overload. Such darling designs and such happiness they bring.

  11. Wonderful details on this darling card! We have a bear that size in the children’s lobby at church, so the kids can get a cute photo. Your kids/elves are just perfect.

  12. Your patience level is much higher than mine. I would stab myself with my snips if I had to fussy cut that many masks! LOL!
