Hi everyone! Happy Friday!

Tomorrow, 1st October, is World Card Making Day. But it’s also the start of a very special event: the Caring Hearts Card Drive.

Now entering its 7th year, the Caring Hearts Card Drive is headed up by Vera Yates. Vera, along with Jennifer McGuire and a team of volunteers, collect handmade holiday cards sent in by people from all over the world, and then distribute them to elderly people living in care homes. After a couple of years of wanting to get involved with the Drive (but with personal things getting in the way) I’m personally delighted to be heading up the UK/Europe arm of things this year! The Card Drive runs from 1st October – 25th November 2016 inclusive. Tune in to Vera’s blog tomorrow for more details!

In the meantime, we are joining in with SugarPea Designs today, who have a special release especially for the Caring Hearts Drive! Wendy has designed some amazing stamps and dies with a kindness theme in mind! The release is already available on the SugarPea Designs website, and 20% of all proceeds from sales of the Caring Hearts stamp set and dies to the Alzheimers Association too!

I went for a super-CAS design that lets the message of the Drive shine through:

Caring Hearts - One Kind Word Can Change Someone's Day Card by Taheerah Atchia

I used the heartbeat image from the Caring Hearts set and heat embossed it with sparkling red embossing powder to make it pop!

The sentiment I used is from the Kindness Matters set and is actually one stamp but I selectively inked it so I could split it between the heartbeat.

Love how it turned out!

  1. Just love everything about this card. I think I need that heartbeat stamp and die. Thanks for a chance to win.

  2. I love your card! Its simple but it’s not simple. I love how you used the red glitter on your card and that makes it stand out. I am all for the Kindness Campaign because there is not enough Kindness in this world. I was big time bullied as a child and teen and adult. Lucky for me and for everyone else, I am Kind so I didn’t blow up my school or shoot up my classmates. I’m a Catholic and I know God would not be pleased with me if I did ay of it. I try to be Kind to everyone every day. Sometimes I am not but 99% of the time I am. I’ll bet most people can’t even say that. I can’t wait to create cards for this campaign.

  3. I love everything glitter! So I really love how you made the heart monitor in glitter! Such a sweet card!

  4. What a simple yet effective card! I like how you used the heartbeat and your choice of sentiments was right on the mark!

  5. I love love love this card. So simple but the message is so powerful. These new stamps are terrific and so is this cause. This will be my third year participating and I can’t wait to get started.

  6. The simplicity and color really make this card sing. Your creative use of the stamp with the selective inking is fabulous. TFS

  7. Your card is awesome, I love the sentiment, it is so true and I think the heartbeat die is fantastic with it!

  8. Thank you so much for participating in this blog hop. I plan to participate in the Caring Hearts card drive mostly because of wonderful people like you.
