Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge #25

By Taheerah | 28th July 2014 | 7 Comments

Hey everyone!

Happy Monday! I know, I know, Mondays are tough. We all need a little tonic to help us get through the day. Luckily there’s a new challenge in town to help us do just that – the Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge!!

This is a challenge which I’ve created myself, yay me! Every Monday I will bring you a photo inspiration challenge, with images that focus on lifting us out of those Monday doldrums and all inspired to create!! I’ll be asking you to play along as well and linking up your creations! At the end of each week I’ll pick a Top 3 who’ll be my Cures For The Monday Blues and receive a special badge to add to your blog!!

This challenge is in its twenty-fifth week now – woo hoo!! Thank you to everyone who has given it love and support and helped it to grow – especially the weeks where you’ve been patient with me while I’ve extended the challenges!

In case you missed this previous post, please read on for some of the recent changes made to the Challenge – including info on how to be in with a chance of becoming a Guest Designer!

Right then. Back to business, lol!

Before we get to this week’s challenge I want to once again thank all of you that submitted entries for the last challenge. I am always especially happy to see some new faces to the Challenge, as well as ‘regulars’! They were all truly beautiful entries and you did not make my life easy when choosing the winners!! I really wanted to pick you all!! Here are my Top 3 Cures For The Monday Blues:

Cornelia (fun stamping)
Torico
Anna Natalia

Winners please contact me to be sent your challenge winner’s badges!

Yet again I had some absolute stunners for entries. It is seriously getting harder and harder each week to pick out only a Top 3! All of you have really been putting in some amazing designs and it makes me so happy when you play, so please keep playing along!

So are you excited to get this week’s challenge under way?! Let’s see what’s up for this week’s inspiration:

Wouldn’t you love to work or create in a space like this?! So calming and organised, not to mention stylish!! And if you’re wondering where my usual love of colour has gone, it is still there – take a closer look at the details!!

Here’s what I came up with:

*squeal* I *love* how this turned out!!!

I started with a Pure White card base and adhered a piece of patterned paper from the My Mind’s Eye Necessities Wood collection. I am crazy about all the natural woodgrain patterns in this collection!

Next I trimmed and adhered a tag from the Heidi Swapp Dreamy collection. I gently blended some Distress Ink in Vintage Photo on the edges to make the piece have a uniform look from all sides. I then stamped one of the sentiments from Papertrey’s Simple Sentiments set using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I was really taken by the bag on the floor so this was my ode to that. 🙂

I added some of the Heidi Swapp Dreamy Ephemera using Glossy Accents (those starbursts perfectly bringing in that aqua from the tape dispenser *and* the light fitting at the same time!) and a few of the Chic Tags Wood Veneer sequin shapes (*swoon*) and I was all done!!

So now it’s your turn to cure the Monday Blues! Here’s how to participate in the challenge!

  1. THANK YOU, Taheerah!!! I have been driving for over three hours…stuck in horrible traffic…counting down the minutes I had left to make the card that has been swirling in my head all week. (Shame on me for waiting so long, huh?!) I pulled into my driveway with 23 minutes. I've never made a card so fast in my life. I worked up a sweat! (So funny!!) Thank you for adding my card! I almost cried when I realized I missed the linkup! I loved the neutrals and the woodgrain and just really wanted to make a card for this inspiration photo! I love your challenge! It always inspires me!

  2. Congratulations to Cornelia, Torico and Anna!
I wood love to have a working space like the one in the photo :). The tag on your card is fantastic… and big, love the little details and embellishments you added. I agree with Cornelia, I want those sequins!!!

  3. I just love your inspiration picture and your fabulous card that comes along with it! Those sequins – I want them, too! And many thanks for giving me top honors for the last Cure!

  4. Congrats ladies…awesome work.
Taheerah, what a fun new challenge and I love how you were inspired! Your stamping is perfection and yes, I need those sequins!
