All That Glitters… Is Gold

Hey everyone! Happy Tuesday!

So, you all know how much I love gold, right? Well, I’ve got an extra special card for you today:

What do you think? Modern? Trendy? Gold? Yes, but what’s special about this one? Can you guess?

Well everyone, this card features… REAL gold!!!

That’s right! Real!!!

So anyway, a long time ago I was trying my hand at calligraphy. I wasn’t too bad but I never progressed as far as I wanted. That didn’t stop me getting myself all the supplies I’d need though – including 23.5 Carat Gold Leaf, which is what I used on this stunner!!

I started with a Stamper’s Select White card base and masked a small border around the edge for reference. I then used a paintbrush to paint on some stripes in acrylic gold size, which is one of the media you can use to get your gold to adhere. I then applied the gold leaf and burnished with my finger (seeing as I couldn’t find my burnishing tools, tut!).

As a finishing touch I stamped the sentiment from the Hero Arts/Studio Calico Sundrifter Love This stamp set using Versamark ink and heat embossed with WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder. Originally I wanted to create some kind of resist for the gold so I wouldn’t have to emboss over it, but my tired brain today couldn’t work out how to do that! I think I should have gone with my original plan of heat embossing the sentiment first, doing my stripes then removing the embossing powder afterwards. Maybe I’ll try again when less tired, lol!

Anyway, a super-simple card that creates a super stunning effect!!

ETA: I’m also linking up to the latest CASology Cue Card Challenge which is dedicated to all things gold!

Well that’s it from me for today. I do hope you’ll leave some love before you head on your way! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I am curious though, what do you use gold leaf in Calligraphy for?
