Iron Craft Challenge

Hey everyone! How are you today? 🙂

I’ve got an awesome cure for the Monday Blues!

A while ago, the awesome Chaitali e-mailed and asked me if I would like to participate in her Iron Craft Challenge! I immediately said yes and have been patiently waiting for that day ever since. 🙂

Based on the TV show Iron Chef, both designers use the same ‘Ingredients’ for their cards and pit themselves against each other to see what we come up with! This was really fun and certainly gave me a challenge to boot!

For our ‘Ingredients’ we agreed on the WPlus 9 Chantilly Trim set:

and the following sketch:

Argh, sketches!! These are my Achilles Crafting Heel!! Hey, maybe that could be a future series of my own! *wink*

Anyway, I am starting to feel a little more comfortable with sketches now, and decided to go for a looser interpretation:

What do you think? I’m pretty happy with this card! It has a real ‘Mood Board’ feel to it!

I started with a Rustic White card base and stamped the flowers using Kraft ink. If you look closely you will also see that I lightly stamped the netting square a couple of times too. I then stamped several of the trim images onto separate pieces of cardstock, trimmed out and adhered to the base using Pinflair Glue Gel. The sentiment is  from the Quite Like You set and stamped onto on one of the trims using SU! Soft Suede ink.

For my flower I stamped the large lace trim onto kraft tissue paper using Versamark ink then heat embossed using WOW! Opaque Vanilla White embossing powder. I trimmed out the strip, made little cuts in it then bunched it up into a flower. I added a kraft button to the centre and adhered to the base using Pinflair.

To round out my card I also splattered my base with Heidi Swapp Colour Shine Mist in Gold Lame and added some sequins from Neat & Tangled and also some little ones from Avery Elle. Loving those cute little ones!!

I had such a fun time with this challenge and want to thank Chaitali so much for inviting me!! Make sure you go and check out her blog for the full challenge, including seeing her awesome card too! As for me? I’ll be back later today with the Sneak Peek for this months’ StampSpotlight! Be sure to tune in for it again later!

In the meantime I would love it if you left some love before you went on your way! Thanks so much for stopping by!!

  1. Nice job getting all the elements in, yet keeping them all kraft & white so as not to overwhelm. Your flower looks awesome all crumpled up. And wait, are your sequins mountains vs. valleys?!? Have they always been that way? I'll have to try that next time : )

  2. Fabulous card!! Love the colors and like I said in the post, it has all the current trends!!! We did think pretty similarly in this challenge, didn't we? 😉

  3. This is really cool! I love all the different bits of stamped lace and how you composed the card. So many things to look at, but so well balanced. It reminds me of a fancy table setting!
