Yay!

Hey everyone! Happy Thursday!

So, I have some exciting news to share!! Those that follow me on Facebook already know this, but I was waiting for the right moment to share it!!

I am now a designer for the Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge Design Team!!!

I am so so so so *so* thrilled to be a part of this amazing team. This is going to be a great challenge for me, a wonderful way to flex those creative muscles in different directions, and above all, FUN!! I can’t wait to get started!! The current SPARKS team ends their term at the end of November so you can see me start to post in December!!! Thank you *so* much Kim for such an amazing opportunity!!!

I created seven cards to submit to this Design Team call – hence some of the cards you have been seeing round here lately! Today I am posting the one that announced me as a DT member in this post:

What do you think? I think this might be my favourite one!!

I started with this inspiration photo:

I just loved that frame corner, and the colours spoke to me too!!

I started with a Melissa Frances resin frame. I’ve had this forever and had been hoarding it for the perfect card – I guess this was it!! It was a little greyer than I wanted so I painted it with some white acrylic paint and then with some Distress Paint in Picket Fence. I then trimmed a piece of paper from the My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline Howdy Doody collection and adhered that behind the frame with some Pinflair Glue Gel. I loved the extra dimension this gave between the frame and its backing.

I threaded some soldering wire (yeah, I’m a geek, what other type of wire would I have?) with lots of sequins, kinking the wire as I went to keep them roughly in place. I adhered the wires to the frame using Glossy Accents and amazingly that worked!! I have *loved* all those collage-style cards that have threads or wires or strung elements and I was thrilled to finally create my own version here!!

I adhered my frame to a Soft Stone card base using more Pinflair, then stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Party Kit set using Smokey Shadow ink. I adhered some more sequins to the base to finish off this new-favourite-of-mine card!!

Well, I would love to hear what you think of this creation! I love it when you leave love! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
