10 Minute Craft Dash #30

Hey everyone! I’m back again today with a super-fun post!

This is my second post of the day. To catch my final post of the Lil’ Inker Designs November Release, and an announcement, please click here, or scroll down. 🙂

So, where was I? Ah yes, this post!

Today Uniko Studio is sponsoring the 10 Minute Craft Dash!!

Well. What can I say about this?

I’ve seen many talented friends post their entries for this challenge. I’ve watched some crazy videos and seem some amazing results! And whenever I’ve commented on these creations there’s been one running theme in what I’ve said:

I could never do this.

Well, today is Judgement Day – because I’m finally putting that to the test!!

That sound you can hear is my nerves rattling. Oy.

Anyway, I’m sure you all know the rules to this. They’re pretty straightforward! Create a card in 10 minutes or less. You may lay out your supplies and plan ahead, but you cannot prepare anything beforehand.

Well, I dutifully formed an idea, laid out my supplies, and set to work. Here’s what I came up with:

What do you think? It’s not my best ever work, lol. And it is riddled with mistakes. As for my time – we’ll get to that…

I started with a panel of Stamper’s Select White cardstock. I probably would have cut this slightly larger than I’d planned (mistake #1). I then blended Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed, and Hero Arts ink in Navy, to form my base. I tested to see if the panel was dry enough to emboss on by sprinkling some powder on to see if it would stick, and it did (good thinking to check before you did any stamping Taheerah!). I then heat set my panel before continuing.

I broke out Stunning Snowflakes to stamp a pattern. It was at this point that I then noticed I’d forgotten to lay out my Versamark inkpad as part of my supplies! (mistake #2). Luckily all my other most-used supplies are within easy reach on my desk, so I grabbed it and began to stamp. I didn’t have time to see exactly where I was stamping, so the pattern isn’t perfect (mistake #3).

I then stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Winter Wonderland set. It was only when I sprinkled my embossing powder on that I could see for certain that one of the snowflakes overlapped the sentiment slightly (mistake #4). Too late to go back, and with my panel still slightly wet and no time to swipe off all the stray embossing powder (mistake #) I heat embossed my panel with WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder. Thankfully as I’m embossing snowflakes, that stray powder doesn’t look too bad!

Tin finish up, I adhered my panel to my Night Sky Shimmer card base, and I was all done!

And my time?

9 minutes 20 seconds!! YEAH!!!!

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed my first crazy attempt at this challenge. I have to say I felt very stressed planning it, but when I started to create I was quite well prepared and largely was able to complete the card without feeling stressed by the experience! Will I play again? Erm…

All of the Uniko Studio Team are playing along with this challenge today – make sure you go check ’em out!! You can start at the Uniko blog here!

I’m off to shake off the rest of these nerves! I would love it if you left some love before you went on your way! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. YES, you have finally succumbed to the 10 Minute Craft Dash! 😉 I was waiting for this day and I'm happy it arrived. I'm not sure why you've steered clear- you totally rocked it, T! Goodness, I don't even attempt embossing AND distressing on a card. Way to go!
