MISTI May-nia – Win a Mini MISTI!!

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday – and welcome to MISTI May-nia!!

I’m so thrilled and delighted to be a special guest for the MISTI May-nia event!! In case you haven’t heard, My Sweet Petunia are giving away a free Mini MISTI every day this month – sometimes with more than one chance to win too! Make sure you check out this amazing event over on the My Sweet Petunia blog for more details!

I absolutely love my MISTIs! That’s right – I’m blessed enough to have several! They come in so handy for mass production, but where I find them most useful for me is in techniques and especially in overstamping. And ever since the Mini MISTI has been released I’ve found it hard not to use it for every single card I make! Seriously worth every penny!!

So for my card I used my MISTI to work out perfect stamp placement of several stamps and then stamp them all at once. Here’s what I came up with:

Awesome, right?! I could not be more thrilled with how it turned out!!

I stated with a panel of white cardstock and lined up my moon die on the panel. I used a Picket Fence Distress Crayon to draw/trace the moon in, then removed the die and inked the panel completely with Faded Jeans Distress Ink, then overinked that with Black Soot Distress ink. Thanks to the crayon resisting the inks I was able to keep my moon having that ghostly look!

I splattered on some water droplets and mists for that starry night look.

I lined up all my stamps on my panel, then used the MISTI lid to pick them up in one go for stamping. So easy! I heat embossed the centre sentiments with white embossing powder, and enjoyed adding the beginning of the sentiment with black ink for some contrast. So thrilled with how this turned out!!

  1. Great card! Love the interesting crayon technique that creates such a wonderful background. Thanks for the opportunity to win a mini Misti. Would really like to try this out.

  2. What a fantastic technique, Taheerah … the halo of light around the moon is fabulous against that luscious dark inking! Thanks for taking part in Iliana's giveaway … what a treat! Anita 🙂

  3. My goodness Taheerah, what you've done with your simple card front is amazing!! I must admit, I have been desperately racing to all the Misti giveaway blogs as I can never afford one as a disabled single person..but I have been thrilled to see so many great techniques. I LOVE your card! This is really useful to me as I have rediscovered my love of Distress inks but was always too scared to add water or sprays. You've done so much with so little space and supplies, and it is amazingly effective. I'm going to tell myself to be daring this week! Thank you, Suz 🙂

  4. WOW !!! What an amazing card ! So beautiful !!
Thank you for sharing your creativity !
Thanks for a chance to win a MiniMisti; good luck to all of us !

  5. I can see how easy it was for you to place the word stamps, then pick them up on the lid of the MISTI, and there you have it. Great show of the work MISTI does, and great show of your card making talents. Good job.
