Joy To The World

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday!

I don’t know what it is, but I’ve really been loving inspiration pieces lately. I picked another one today from Pinterest to spark today’s card:

Stunning, right? Minted really do know good design!

I interpreted the design into my own and didn’t carbon copy it exactly. Here’s what I ended up with:

What do you think?!

I’ll be honest here – I’m kind of disappointed with this card. I mean, the idea is sound, and I suppose it looks alright. But it is riddled with mistakes in its execution, and after messing with it for several hours I didn’t want to start from scratch, so here it is, as-is.

I started with a Pure White card base and stamped the big sentiment from Over The Edge: Joy. This is an exclusive set available from Amber Kemp-Gerstel at Damask Love, and I think she still has a few if you want it! I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I actually stamped it a couple of times, very slightly offset. I wish I could tell you that was deliberate, but…

I stamped the sentiment again onto paper and trimmed it out completely and sprayed the back of it with spray adhesive to create a mask. Yup, all the swirls and all. Seriously. I placed over the stamped sentiment on my card then stamped lots of snowflakes from Stunning Snowflakes using Gold Stazon ink. Of course this ink is very tacky and so pulled off and partially tore the mask, so I discarded it after a while to carry on stamping. I wish I had stuck with it, but never mind.

I then stamped lots of small dots from Polka Dot Basics I with the Stazon and Versafine, and also with Hero Arts ink in Red Royal. I stamped the companion sentiment from PTI’s Instant Photo: Holidays set, and I was almost done.

I decided to incorporate some Perfect Pearls into my design, so applied the mask again and re-stamped all the snowflakes, this time with Hero Arts ink in Gold. I then coated with Perfect Pearls in Perfect Pearl. Finally I re-stamped the main sentiment (for like the third time) and heat embossed with Filigree Black embossing powder. With the combination of the stray Perfect Pearls and the partial embossing this ended up with an almost glistening glittery effect, so I guess I can say that was a happy accident! After all that I decided it best to leave it alone at this point and call it done, ha!

I’ll be back tomorrow, as usual, but I do hope you will leave some love before you head on your way today! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. I see this card went through a lot! 😀
The design and the end product is simply stunning! And honestly, I didn't notice the stamping "mistakes" until you mentioned them. On looking at it again, it actually looks quite artistic!

  2. I love it, Taheerah! And agree word by word with what Virginia said above. This is not a Hallark card, it's a unique handmade one! And it's perfect 🙂

  3. Stunning interpretation! I love love how you took it and make it your own, Taheerah! AND..what "mistakes" are you talking about!? This is a HAND MADE card, it's not from a printing machine! I love the organic look of your design (which is why it's unique and …well, handmade)!! You totally should state: all spots and inking are there for a good reason.period. I know this card looks so much more stunning in person. Thanks for sharing (you are way too humble and honest)!
