Fabulous Chalkboard

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday!

I guess yesterday’s card left me with the chalkboard technique on the brain as I ended up creating another, simpler version today! This time I played with the brand new Hero Arts Chalk Background set! Couldn’t wait to see how it turned out!

What do you think? I kinda like it!

I started with a Smokey Shadow card base and stamped the chalk background stamp using WPlus9’s White Pigment ink. Hmm. I think for this stamp you need a really juicy inkpad as I had to stamp it twice to get any kind of effect I was happy with. Also the stamp doesn’t completely cover an A2 card front, so you will need a slightly smaller card or to ink the edges to blend the stamp in (as I did here).

I dusted the card with a good dose of powder from my EK Success Powder tool, then stamped the sentiments and heart from Technique Tuesday’s Incredible stamp set using Versamark ink. I have been wanting to get this set *forEVER* – love that handwriting!

I heat embossed with WOW! Opaque Seafoam White embossing powder but decided this didn’t look great seeing as the chalk background was whiter, so I used a Versamarker and drew over the sentiments then embossed again using WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder. In some places that left that really cool shadow effect without having to break out a white pencil to do it – super cool! I rubbed my white inkpad over the base again to add some extra ‘chalk’, and that’s all that was needed for this quick and simple card!

Well I’m hoping to get a lot more crafting tomorrow as I didn’t do much at all today! And tomorrow, all being well will be my first Couture Christmas post – do make sure to tune in for that!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I would love it if you left some love before you went on your way!

  1. Always love reading your thoughts on the card making process. I feel like I'm right there in the craft room with you! I do adore your card. It's trendy chalkboard, but with an edge.
