14 Days of Valentine’s Cards – Day 9!

Hey everyone! How are you all today?

I’m back with Day 9 of my Valentine’s Showcase! Just 5 more days until V Day!

For those of you who are new to this series, here’s the deal:

Due to the popularity of my 25 Days of Christmas Cards posts (well, they were popular with me anyway!), I thought I’d bring you a series of cards that are perfect for Valentine’s Day! And, just to give this series a little twist, I am challenging myself and keeping them all as cards that are suitable for guys! Every year I see a smorgasbord of beautiful Valentine’s cards, and they are all very well done and very inspiring – but they all tend to be very girly. So I’m bucking the trend and bringing you a fortnight of cards dedicated to the men in our lives!

Fun right?! I’ve certainly had a lot of fun with this series!

Today’s card is inspired by the comic book geek. I’m sure they would appreciate this one!

Fun right?! What better way to a comic book aficionado’s heart than telling them they’re you’re super hero?!

I started with a panel of Stamper’s Select White cardstock and stamped it with the Clear and Simple Stamps’ Comic Book stamp using Versafine Onyx Black ink. This stamp is a square so I had to stamp it a couple of times.

I then embossed it with the Craft Concepts Sun Rays embossing folder before rubbing my Versafne pad over the raised rays. So easy!

For the sentiment I created the ‘You’re My’ sentiment by combining parts of a couple of the sentiments from the Comic Bursts set. I then trimmed it out into a rectangle and inked the edges.

The ‘Super’ sentiment comes from the Recollections Comic Talk set. It actually has an exclamation mark on the end so I masked that part off before inking and stamping it.

The ‘Hero’ part was created with some creative masking of the ‘U’ and then filling in with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker to make a H! I continued building the word using the ‘ER’ from that sentiment, then added an ‘O’ from another sentiment in the set, before finally adding the exclamation mark from the end of the original ‘SUPER!’ sentiment! Phew! I drew any additional lines required before trimming out.

All that was left was to assemble my card: the rays background was adhered to a True Black card base using Scor Tape, and I then assembled my sentiments and adhered them in place with Pinflair Glue Gel. Voila!

Well, I have a ton of crafty work to get on with, so I will take my leave of you now. I would love to hear your thoughts on this series – with 5 days remaining what would you like to see me create? Thanks so much for stopping by – see you here again soon!

  1. Taheerah, you are certainly a girl after my heart. I love how detail-oriented you are, especially in explaining the different techniques in your cards. It's great knowing I'm going to pick something up after visiting your blog. The inked rays over the stamping are perfect for this theme.
