Papertrey Ink January 2015 Blog Hop

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday!

Today I’m posting a card for something I haven’t done in a very long time – the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

Apparently the last time I did so was September 2013!! Whoa!! I don’t usually have the time to play along anymore. But this month’s theme of ‘Hearts’ was one I didn’t want to let pass by…

I had an idea brewing in my head, so I wanted to execute it if I had the chance! I’m glad I did!

Here’s what I came up with:

*swoon* I am so in love with this!! If only you could see it in person!!

I started by die cutting a panel of Pure White cardstock using the Cover Plate: Hearts die. I popped all the hearts out then impressed my panel with the canvas side of the Linen & Canvas Impression Plate. I also impressed five of the hearts and watercoloured them with SU! inks in Blushing Bride, Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush.

I then adhered a gold foiled vellum layer to my card base. The design was one I foiled myself, thanks to my Heidi Swapp Minc Machine!! I found an ikat pattern online that I liked and printed it out with my laser printer, then ran it through the Minc to create that *amazing* foiled effect!!

Just look at that gold!!!

I know you can’t see too much of the pattern, so here’s a picture I posted of it on Instagram yesterday:

Awesome right!? 🙂

Anyway, back to the card. 🙂

I adhered my hearts panel to my vellum layer using Pinflair Glue Gel then adhered my watercolour hearts in place using the same. I added them at an offset for more interest. The sentiment is one from the Studio Calico Buttercup stamp set. I stamped it using Versafine Onyx Black ink onto a separate piece of cardstock then I fussy cut it out (that’s right – I FUSSY CUT that sentiment – including the gaps in the S’s!!!) then adhered it with Pinflair and I was all done!!

If anyone is interested in learning more about the Minc then you can see the YouTube video I made about it, below. 🙂 This is the first in a series (I’ll be showing how to create your own designs with a laser printer soon!) so please subscribe to my YouTube Channel if you want to see more! 🙂

I would love it if you left some love before you went on your way! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. First of all that card is drop dead gorgeous…love the overlay, the random look of the gold peeking through and the colored hearts. Stunning. Secondly, this machine is really something I'll have to consider. Your product review was really informative and fun to watch. Love the kicky music with your graphics.
