Big Heart, Little Elephant

Hey everyone! Happy New Year’s Eve eve!

Well, two elephant posts in as many days! I guess you’ll be forgiven for thinking I have a thing for them, when really I have a thing for cute! And cute this really is!!

As soon as I saw previews for Becky Oehlers’ latest set, It’s The Little Things, I knew I had to have it. It was just too darn cute to resist. Especially that little elephant! Becky has really grown as an illustrator with every set she designs, and this one is so perfectly drawn she could be illustrating children’s fiction right now. 😀

Anyway, this set finally arrived to my hot little paws today, and I wasted no time in getting the Copics out to create this:

What do you think? Isn’t he adorable?!

I started with a Rustic White card base and stamped my toy rabbit first. I then stamped him again on a Post-It note and cut him out to act as a mask while I stamped my elephant. I then trimmed out the section of the mask where the end of the trunk wrapped around the rabbit then stamped just the trunk part again so he was holding him. 🙂

I stamped the outline balloon too and then drew a string down to and curled round so that too was being held. All my stamping was done with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and my string drawn with the equivalent pen. Then I put the Copics to work colouring it all in. 🙂 Very therapeutic and I love the end result! I dabbed some Copic Colourless Blending Solution onto the rabbit with a towel to give him a ‘fur’ look and that was all this card needed – sometimes an image says it all and a sentiment is not needed. And I love how this card could be used for any number of different occasions. 🙂

Well that’s it from me for today but I do hope you’ll join me again tomorrow for the final day of the year! Thanks so much for stopping by – I would love it if you would leave some love before you went on your way!

  1. Holy cuteness! I love the the image, it is so sweet and your coloring is so sweet! I chuckle often because of your previous statements that you don't do cute. You have clearly disproved that this year!
