Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday!

So, I have been wanting to create something for the Moxie Fab World Washi Tape Challenge since it was announced *ages* ago. But I hadn’t yet because I just could not come up with a good idea. Yeesh. Don’t you hate it when that happens?! I really wanted to use my washi tape in a *creative* way, but nothing was coming to me! Argh!!

However, inspiration finally struck yesterday out of nowhere while I was at work (it was a -long- day yesterday. Like, super-long) and so as soon as I had a chance I just had to execute my idea!

So, my idea was… to create a plaid design with my tapes! I was so excited when this idea finally hit me!! I *love* washi tape, and one of the characteristics I love most about it is that a lot of designs have a transparency about them. What better media could there be for a plaid?!

But, me being me, my design wasn’t going to be run-of-the-mill. Oh no.

I decided to incorporate one of my other big loves.

Neon.

Set your eyes to stunned – or at least to need sunglasses!

I started with a panel of Stamper’s Select White cardstock and adhered my strips of Heidi Swapp Neon Washi Tape to it to create my plaid pattern. When I was done I trimmed my pattern into strips. I didn’t want an eyesore of a design, so breaking up the pattern and taming it with lots of white was a must!

I rounded a corner on two of my strips and then adhered to my card base using Pinflair Glue Gel. I took inspiration from the layout from this beauty of a card by Debby Hughes.

To finish up, I added some black pearls (I have no black enamel dots yet, sob!), then added a the sentiment burst from Mama Elephant’s Say What? set. It just goes so well with the neon and the design, don’t you think? I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed with WOW! Clear Semi Dull embossing powder and adhered with Pinflair Glue Gel. And voilà!

Well, I’d better get back to it! I still have one Card Creations Challenge left to come up with some inspiration for (The Chevron Challenge – seriously, why are my two favourites from all these challenges the ones I’ve had the most problems with?!) so I’m hoping an idea will strike soon!
