Clean & Simple Card Making 2 – Day 1 – The Craftmanship of Clean & Simple Cards

Hey everyone! How are you all today?

So I’m always looking for ways to be inspired and pick up new techniques. Clean And Simple cards are something I’ve been experimenting a lot with lately (as I’m sure you will have seen from my posts!) and so when I stumbled upon this online class being taught by some of the best CAS designers in the business, well, I just had to sign up!

For Day 1 we looked at ‘The Craftmanship of Clean & Simple Cards’. Our ‘homework’ was to create a card using one of the sketches from today’s class. I chose this one:

Fun huh? Here’s my take on it:

Different but similar right?! I just have to put my own spin on things at all times, lol!

I started with a Clear & Simple Stamps I Steel Got It card base. I then die cut some hearts from Eclipse Masking Tape – one from the Sizzix Triple Chocolate Truffle die and the smaller ones with the Simon Says Stamp Mini Hearts Set dies. I positioned the hearts on the card base then spritzed and splattered with Mister Huey’s Calico White spray.

I added a strip of Scor Tape to the top and adhered a piece of American Crafts ribbon, then tied on some May Arts Twine.

I stamped the sentiment, from Avery Elle’s Lots of Love set, using Raspberry Fizz ink, then heat embossed with WOW! Clear Semi Dull embossing powder. I went over the text with an RV06 Copic marker to make it pop a little more.

All that was left was to add some rhinestones and I was done!

I’m really enjoying this class and would really encourage anyone to sign up! The videos and resources are fantastic, the teachers are full of great tips, there are shopping discounts, prizes to be won and all manner of fun to be had! Maybe I’ll see you there!

Thanks so much for stopping by – I’d love to know what you think of my card!

  1. Love the cards you've been posting from this class (wish I could have attended!) That white spray mist is awesome, I didn't know it came in white … I love it!! Looks so great sprayed on your gray.

  2. Taheerah, so thankful you stopped by and gave me a little love on the blog! I love this card you made! We can always count on you to add your own twist to things and usually it is just perfect! this is no exception…love the splatters and the hearts. Great idea with the sentiment, too!

  3. It's 'your spin' which makes your cards original every time – never stop adding that magic 😉 Need to sign up for this class, I did the first one & loved it! x
