Happy Birthday To Me!!

Hi everyone!!
Well, as the post suggests – it’s my birthday!! Happy Birthday to me!! Now, I’m sure you won’t expect me to divulge my age, so let me just say that I still feel like I’m 18!!!
Well, what’s a crafter to do for her birthday? Make herself a birthday card of course!! And in true birthday-miracle style, I finally managed to get my December Release order yesterday, so of course my birthday card had to feature some of my new goodies!!
One of the sets I was most looking forward to receiving was Tiny Treats. It is beyond cute!!! Now that I’ve seen it in front of my own eyes I’m in love with it even more!! I can’t wait to create loads of cards with it!!
One of the images that won me over most from the set when it was being released was the adorable little cupcake image. Now seeing as I own Cupcake Collection and love that so much I couldn’t *not* have that image could I?! And what better image to use for my birthday card than that cute little image?
Isn’t this such a cute, sweet little card?!! I love it so much!! I love pink and I love this little image so it was a match made in heaven!!!
I stamped the little cupcake on Stamper’s Select White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The little square was punched out with a 1 1/8″ square punch which I bought with this set in mind. I punched the square out first before stamping as I don’t trust myself to punch it out with the image in the middle!!
I coloured the cupcake with my Copics, keeping with a Sweet Blush sort of colour (in fact one of the markers I used is pretty much an exact match for Sweet Blush!). After learning from Nichole Heady I used a fine outline around the image to just slightly make it pop from the cardstock. I used the palest pink to do this so that it was in keeping with the colour scheme. I also used that Sweet Blush coloured Copic to edge my punched square for some definition.
The lattice square onto which the image is mounted was created from a punched square of Rustic White. Remember that Martha Stewart punch that I love so much? Well this is the corner version! I found that with a bit of practice that I could get the lattice lined up pretty much exactly as I wanted it (I went through 2 other squares before I got it right!) but I love how it turned out!! I adhered the image to the lattice with Scor-Tape and the lattice to the base with plenty of Pinflair Glue Gel for a lot of depth and support.
I used a piece of Sweet Blush cardstock for my base. This little card is only 3″x3″ which makes it adorably cute, and in line with my own small stature! Here it is next to another card I created recently to show you just how cute it is!!

After creating one of Dawn’s bows in my last card I was hooked, and so I did another one for this card! I used Hibiscus Burst Bitty Dot ribbon (sorry, I just can’t get the colour of this to photograph right) as it tied in with the scale perfectly! Now, although my fingers are small and thin even my little fingers couldn’t fit into those little loops, so I just pulled it snug and pushed the thinner end of a pen through to puff up the loops after. I think it worked pretty well!

Finally, I inked up a sentiment from one of my other new sets – Blooming Button Bits – to finish off the card. Just the right scale to tie in with this little card, and just the right kind of sentiment too!
Last thing I should mention about this card is that it was created from a fair few scraps (in fact pretty much the whole thing was created from leftovers, even if they were ‘clean’ cardstock etc!) so this makes it perfect to enter for Nichole’s Scrap-tastic Challenge!
So what do you think? A worthy birthday card? I absolutely love this set and I would urge anyone who doesn’t already own it to go and buy it – you won’t be disappointed!! In the meantime I’d love to know what you think of this little creation!!
