Boomerang Leaving Card

Evening all!

Another masculine card today! This was created for a colleague leaving work to go to Australia. I wanted to create something unique and fitting, and seeing as the guy might be coming back after a few months a boomerang seemed like the ideal choice!

The card is a large one (A4 in size) so I needed to make sure there wasn’t tons of empty space whilst at the same time not making it too ‘fussy’. The boomerang was drawn freehand onto Stamper’s Select White cardstock using a Memento Tuxedo Black marker pen. After this I coloured by sponging on Weathered Wood distress ink and PTI Smokey Shadow. To get the colour just right I tapped Pallette New Canvas ink on top – I love how versatile that is at transforming a colour!

I then stamped a few of the sentiments from PTI’s Faux Ribbon and star images from the Everyday Classics and Cupcake Collection stamp sets using Smokey Shadow with a little True Black on top. Finally some Copics were used to add some shading and dimension.

The boomerang was cut out and adhered using 3D foam pads onto a Kraft patterned background. The background was created with a mixture of Background Basics Text Style, Everyday Classics and Polka Dot Basics I, all stamped in Smokey Shadow. I drew on some lines to represent the movement of the boomerang!

Finally the sentiment on the front was printed onto PTI Spring Rain cardstock and was accompanied by a follow-up message on the inside!
